| Application | Fatty acids in saw palmetto extract are known to inhibit 5-alpha-reductase, an enzyme important in the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. This activity makes the product useful in relieving acne prone and oily skin, and also in the prevention of excessive hair loss. Also known to inhibit pro-inflammatory enzymes (COX-2, 5-lipoxygenase) and leukotriene B4, making it suitable for use on skins prone to irritation. | |
